FROM FRESH PLAZA, ZETAPACK INTRODUCES A SORTER FOR RIPE FRUIT

Zetapack’s latest installation: Softlight C2/16.

While there is a lot of talk about high-quality and ready-to-eat fruit, it is also true that entrepreneurs need to keep costs down. Zetapack’s new sorting machine processes ripe fruit so as to supply consumers with produce with a high Brix level at a contained cost thanks to automation.

"Softlight C2/16 was installed at Società Agricola Fabbri in Santarcangelo di Romagna in early June for the processing of apricots. Results are excellent and the owner declared himself satisfied,” reports sales manager Martina Lantignotti.

The grader can be used with a wide variety of ripe and delicate fruits - apricots, persimmons, pears, apples, peaches and nectarines – also thanks to interchangeable cups. All Zetapack graders are patented.

"Fruits are loaded and unloaded manually so as to preserve each one. So far, processing plants only worked with hard fruit that could be processed without getting ruined, but it compromised organoleptic qualities. Our grader processes the fruit mechanically yet delicately.”

Operators do not need to be particularly expert as, thanks to a tracking LED light, it is very simple to identify the fruit to be placed in cells.

The grader is circular so, if a fruit is not picked up by the operator, it keeps going around until it is chosen. The loading phase is manual, so delicate fruits such as persimmons, pears (after a few months in cells), ripe peaches, large apricots or nashi, do not deteriorate.
